On August 27, The Salvation Army in Kamloops welcomed hundreds of local families to our annual Back to School event, helping children prepare for a successful start to the school year.
Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, we were able to assist more than 200 children by providing backpacks, school supplies, and financial assistance toward the purchase of new shoes. As families face rising costs, these supports help ease the financial burden and ensure children can head back to class feeling confident, prepared, and ready to learn.
The event was about more than just school supplies. Children had the opportunity to enjoy a fun-filled Kid's Zone featuring games and activities, creating a welcoming and exciting atmosphere for families. We also hosted a community BBQ where families could enjoy a meal together while connecting with staff, volunteers, and other community members.
